In September 2023, The Landing was officially recognised as a Community Interest Company (CIC).
Originally conceived as a kitchen garden supplying produce to Where the Light Gets In, The Landing quickly revealed its potential to be much more than just a rooftop garden above the Merseyway precinct.
While growing food remains a central aspect, our vision for The Landing has evolved to harness the full spectrum of benefits that a garden can offer. Beyond its role as a food source, The Landing now serves as a multifaceted resource that enriches the community in diverse ways.
Our focus has shifted towards utilising our expertise in growing and cooking, while also collaborating with artists, craftsmen, educators, and other experts. This collective knowledge and talent are being channelled to transform our space into a venue for thoughtful reflection on the use and distribution of food and natural resources in our society.
As a CIC, our mission is to establish green spaces in urban environments that function as vibrant community hubs. These spaces are designed to foster engagement around food and natural resource management. By integrating creative, scientific, and conversational approaches, our gardens offer the community opportunities for personal well-being, education, artistic expression, and relaxation.
The Landing is committed to providing a nurturing environment where individuals can connect with nature, gain knowledge, and contribute to meaningful dialogue about sustainability and resource stewardship.
